Do What You Are, Paul Tieger and Barbara Baron-Tieger. This enlightening resource is based on the Myers-Brigges Type Indicator (MBTI). If you don't know your MBTI type, this book will help you identify it. It provides excellent overviews and suggestions for each of the 16 types.

The following series of four career books, by Kate Wendleton, founder of the Five O'Clock Club, is an excellent guide to the career process:

  • Building a Great Resume, Kate Wendleton. This is the best guide for creating a strong professional resume.
  • Targetting the Job You Want, Kate Wendleton. A step-by-step process for developing a target statement and identifying potential employers.
  • Getting Interviews, Kate Wendleton. A detailed program for creating a job search strategy and accomplishing the search in the most effective manner.
  • Interviewing and Salary Negotiation, Kate Wendleton. A guide to preparing for interviews and salary negotiations.

The Book of Lists. Published annually by the Washington Business Journal, this tabloid-sized book is a wonderful source of information on local companies, listed by sector. Usually found in the magazine section of local bookstores.
